Anti Rape Condom

A South African doctor has created a female condom that puts teeth in the fight against rape. The anti-rape condom, called "Rape-aXe," features rows of jagged hooks designed to attach to a man's penis during penetration. Once attached, the condom can only be removed by a doctor - hopefully when authorities can arrest him, Dr. Sonnet Ehlers, the condom's designer, told.

"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said. "If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure."

Ehlers said she sold her house and car to launch the project, and she planned to supervise the distribution of 30,000 free devices in cities hosting the World Cup soccer matches. After the trial period, they'll be available for about $2 apiece, according to CNN.

"The mother of two daughters said she visited prisons and talked to convicted rapists to find out whether such a device would have made them rethink their actions," CNN reported. "Some said it would have."

Critics say the condom makes women vulnerable to violence from men trapped by the device.

It's also a form of "enslavement," Victoria Kajja, a fellow for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the east African country of Uganda, told CNN. "The fears surrounding the victim, the act of wearing the condom in anticipation of being assaulted all represent enslavement that no woman should be subjected to."

Kajja added that the device reminds women of their vulnerability.

"It not only presents the victim with a false sense of security, but psychological trauma," she added. "It also does not help with the psychological problems that manifest after assaults."

But she acknowledged that the device might allow justice to be served.

Rape convictions are rare in most African countries, according to CNN. Victims don't get immediate access to medical care, and DNA tests to provide evidence are too expensive.

Women take drastic measures to prevent rape in South Africa, Ehlers said. Some go so far as to insert razor blades wrapped in sponges in their private parts.

Critics have said the device is like something out of the Middle Ages.

"Yes, my device may be medieval, but it's for a medieval deed that has been around for decades," she told CNN. "I believe something's got to be done ... and this will make some men rethink before they assault a woman."

Homemade Recipes for Eye Masks

Wrinkles and Crow's Feet

Avocado is great to use for wrinkles and crow's feet. It has good moisturizing properties, so you could use this on your entire face as well. Avocado helps increase the amount of collagen, so it is the perfect thing for wrinkles. It also is good with dry skin.

Mix 5 drops of almond oil with half an avocado and mash this up in a bowl. You should end up with a nice creamy consistency.
Leave this on under and around the eyes for 5 minutes before wiping it off. You will feel a lot more refreshed. Do this on a regular basis.

Dry Skin Remedy

This is a cream for dry skin under the eyes because you are using ingredients with hydrating properties. It also helps with dark rings, so using this every day will be a huge help.

Ingredients

2 tsp Aloe vera gel
3 Vitamin E capsules, and
1 tsp Almond oil
3 drops lavender oil
 Method

Add the Aloe Vera to a small jar

Brighter Eyes
Tired, bloodshot and swollen eyes are hardly attractive, and you need to treat this naturally. If you have not got enough sleep, then this is definitley going to show, so have something like cucumbers prepared in the refrigerator. Cold metal teaspoons will work, as will ice cubes. Leave these on for a couple of minutes and soon your eyes will be back to normal again.

cucumber for eyes

Natural Eyebrow Tint
As you age, it is natural for your eyebrows to start thinning out. You can sometimes see when women begin to shade them in with a pencil, and this does not look good.

Here are a few things that you can do in order to remain youthful:

Rub lemon on your brows
Egg white will also help because it contains protein. Leave this on for 15 minutes.
Rub olive oil in
Coconut oil helps thicken and turn them darker.
Apply Aloe Vera and rub it in.
How to Get Rid of Puffy Eyes
The skin in this area is very delicate and as you age, you will find a notable difference here. This appears as swollen and is often referred to as puffy eyes. Often the fats seeps down and contributes to that saggy layer under your eyes. You can also benefit by getting more sleep and eating well. If you suffer from any allergies, then this is something to look into as well.

Tea Bags

Don't throw your tea bags away. Keep these in the refrigerator and use them when they are cold. Put a cloth over and leave this on for 10 minutes. Chamomile is good for this.

Cucumber

Of course, we can't leave out healthy cucumbers. These have been used used for years because of their calming properties. They also contain antioxidants, and are especially helpful for those with sensitive eyes reduce the puffiness.

Egg Whites

A couple of years ago, somebody tested this out, and even dermatologists have been raving about this method. Some people say that this is like an instant face lift, and in the case of the eye area, it would act as something similiar to botox, but you have to do this on a regular basis.

Home Remedy for Dark Circles
You may have dealt with the bags under your eyes, but dark circles are yet another issue that will bring you down if you have a look in the mirror. Often this can be cured by just getting a little more sleep, or being less of a party animals. However, age does come into play, and fortunately there are a couple of rememdies that come to mind.

An enzyme found in potatoes has been known to lighten then circles. Just grate them and this on for a couple of minutes.
Rose water is one of the best things for this. Just dab a little bit under the eye and leave it on for 10 minutes.
Use the cucumber under eyes as well as tea bags like you would use them to get rid of bags under your eyes.

how to quit smoking??!!!

Are You Looking For An Effective Way to Kick The Habit?
Breaking the nasty cycle of smoking can be one of the most challenging tasks that you will ever undertake, but the rewards of successfully getting rid of this horrible addiction are worth the effort.

Smoking is an addiction that can be unbelievably hard to let go of. The chemicals in cigarettes, such as Nicotine have some serious effects on hormones, so quitting smoking will send your body out of balance and into withdrawal.

There are a variety of quitting methods that you can take, but the best way to quit smoking purely depends on your lifestyle and your personality. What works for some people might not work for you. Therefore, it is vital that you know all of the options available. Prepare yourself by readying both your mind and your body. Here are some of the best approaches to giving up smoking.

Quitting Cold Turkey

If you're looking for the easy way to stop smoking, going cold turkey may not be for you. Using this method may be the best way give up if you're brave enough to go off cigarettes straight away. It’s difficult, yes, but this method almost always works if you have the determination to stop. There will be no reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke, patches, or any other kinds of interventions. Cold turkey means you're going to stop smoking instantly. It can be one of the hardest methods, but it can also be the most effective.

Let Everyone Know

Start by telling your family and friends.  Tell them that you've stopped smoking completely, and you'd appreciate it if they didn't smoke around you as this would help with resisting the temptation to light up.  Telling people you’re quitting will make it more official, giving you extra courage to stay committed to your goal.

Cleanse

After telling all your friends and family, get rid of all your cigarettes.  Try and avoid places or situations that are linked with smoking.

Keep Busy

Fight the physical addiction by replacing your urge to smoke with things that will make your hands and your mouth busy. Knit a sweater, suck on a candy, drink water, or chew gum.  Keep things like this handy so when an urge takes hold you can counter it. Smoking is an oral habit that you can replace by keeping your mouth busy.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy can be the best way to quit smoking if your addiction is more of an emotional one. The process works by sending small amounts of nicotine into your system throughout the course of the day.

Nicotine Patches

One of the most popular methods to quit smoking via nicotine replacement therapy is through nicotine patches. They are infused with a small amount of nicotine that is sent to your body via your skin.

Step by Step

Nicotine patches are applied via a step-down program.  As the program progresses your dosage of nicotine decreases so you slowly wean yourself off nicotine. The dosage of nicotine in your patch depends on the amount of cigarettes you smoke per day.

Quitting Strategies

There are a variety of other quitting strategies that you might want to try as well.

Financial Cost

One method involves determining how much you spend on cigarettes. If you're concerned about the cost of cigarettes, this might be the best way to quit smoking for you.

Keep track of your cigarette expenses during the course of a month. Once you have this monthly figure you can use this as motivation because not only will you have the added health benefits of no longer smoking but you'll be saving money at the same time.

Cutting Down

Cutting down can be the best way to quit smoking if you just can’t do it cold turkey. Start with smoking your regular number of cigarettes and minus one stick for every week that passes. This way, you don't shock your body by taking away what it’s looking for instantly. You get your body used to the process slowly and efficiently.

Whichever method you choose know that you are doing a great thing for your long term health as well as saving you some money at the same time.  Once you’ve quit smoking your body will start to repair and regenerate itself so you’ll feel and look better in a short period of time.

A Fat Burning Diet

Tired of constant yo-yo dieting? The simple fact is most diets fail within a few months, and people end up gaining even more weight in the long run. Why? Most diets require some sort of moderate to severe calorie restriction, either in the form of low carb (e.g. Atkins) or a traditional low-fat diet.

There are several reasons why these diets fail:
1) Prolonged calorie restriction causes the body to release hormones to prevent further weight loss, i.e. the Infamous Weight Loss Plateau.

2) Prolonged low calorie diets result in loss of muscle used by the body as fuel.[3] Your muscle tissues are your primary fat burning furnaces!

2) Most diets are too severe and deprive you of enjoyable foods. This can often lead to wild bouts of binge eating when the self control finally crumbles!

3) With most low-calorie diets, you tend lose significant weight in the first 7-10 days (5-10 lbs is not unusual), and you get really excited. However, this is mostly a natural process where your body sheds water and glycogen stores.[4] Significant fat loss most likely has not occurred. This is why your "weight loss" typically slows after the initial drop.

How to Permenently Lose Body Fat

Unfortunately, there is no magic pill that can "safely and permanently" make you lose body fat. I put this in quotes, because some could argue that there are medications/supplements out there that do help you lose fat. And while they would be correct, the safety and sustainability of these weight loss methods are questionable at best. Yes, you do lose fat with some of these products. But as with most restrictive diets, you have not made any real life style changes that can permanently maintain the results.

So how to you lose weight and keep it off permanently? The real answer is simple, but not necessarily easy.  Accomplish your goals by revving up your metabolism through healthy eating, resistance training, and cardiovascular exercise.

Fat Burning "Diet" Plan
Diet is in quotations above for a reason. The first step to success to shift your focus from "dieting" to making a "lifestyle change." You must first realize that you have total control over your situation. Genetics, lack of time, and lack of knowledge are all merely excuses keeping you from your goal of looking like a rock star.

Focus on Burning Fat, Not Losing Weight
An important concept to understand is that your weight has no effect on how good you look. If you want that "cut" look, you are going to have to focus on reducing your body fat. This can also be referred to as your body fat percentage, or the amount of your body weight composed of fat. The term body composition is bandied around in the fitness world a lot. This term is mostly used as a synonym of body fat percentage, so don't get confused. Shift your paradigm to focus on fat loss rather than weight loss to maximize your gains.

Losing Fat is Simple but Not Easy...
Simply put, you must create a calorie deficit in order to lose fat. In other words, the calories you expend must be greater than the calories you take in to your body. Your body will break down fat stores in order to use as energy your body needs. While there are many other things going on at the cellular level, this really is the the basic requirement needed in order to lose fat.

Remember this simple formula for how to reduce body fat:

Calories IN > Calories OUT = WEIGHT GAIN

Calories IN < Calories OUT = WEIGHT LOSS

Calories IN = Calories OUT = NO CHANGE

How Do I Measure My Body Fat Percentage?
There are several different methods to use to calculate your body fat percentage. Hydrostatic weighing is considered the "Gold Standard" for this, but it is an impractical approach to measuring your body fat. Bioelectrical impedance (BEI) is also another form of used quite a bit. However, the reliability is highly in question for BEI. Your measured percentage can greatly vary depending on several factors including hydration and skin resistance.

The best way to measure your body is the use of skin fold calipers. This method has been shown to be a valid and reliable way to measure body fat.[1] Measuring with skinfold calipers requires taking measurements at several different sites; therefore, this method is also somewhat impractical. I have found a good device to help you easily measure your own body fat - the Accu-Measure Personal Body Fat Tester. This device has an easy to use system, requires one skinfold pinch, and can be completed without any assistance. The Accu-Measure has been shown to be both accurate and reliable in clinical testing as well![2] A fair warning... if you have a very high body fat percentage (> 30%) this device may not be reliable until you begin to lose some weight. Accu-Measure conveniently includes the MyoTape as well to solve this problem. You can use the tape to make circumference measurements (waist, hips, thighs, biceps, etc.) to document your progress.

Calculate Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
The following formula is a great tool to use to calculate your BMR. This formula takes into account your LEAN body mass, rather than just your body weight as with many calculators. This of this as your personalized calculator, tailored just to fit your body.

Katch-Mcardle BMR Formula:

Lean Body Mass = (Weight(kg) x (100-(Body Fat)))/100

BMR = 370 + (21.6 x Lean Body Mass(kg) )

Hint: 1 pound = 2.2 kg

There are several free calculators online that can help you with this as well.

Change Your Eating Habits
Most diets involve starving yourself to some degree or another. While this is a way to lose weight, you have must likely discovered this is not a sustainable way to loose weight. The most effective way to lose fat permanently is to EAT!

Let me explain this further. Simply put, your body needs calories. Use the BMR you used to find out how many calories your need to sustain your current body weight. In order to burn some fat, you are going to need to use cardiovascular exercise to burn off those extra calories. We will get more into the cardio next in the next topic.

Not only do you want to eat your needed calories, but you want to eat HEALTHY foods. I am not going into a lot of details here as we could write a 300 page book over healthy eating. Basic rules to follow are as follows:

1) Stay away from simple sugars, such as soda, candies, deserts as much as possible.

2) Eat complex carbohydrates like black beans, whole grains and vegetables.

3) Protein, protein, protein. You need lean proteins to help maintain your muscles.

4) Drink a ton of water each day. Water is involved in every aspect of body functioning, including the chemical process that breaks down fat!

Cardiovascular Exercise
Running, fast walking, swimming and cycling are all examples of cardio. You need to be shooting for 4-6 days of cardio per week for 30-45 minutes each time. This will help you burn a significant enough amount of calories to lose the fat.

Using cardio instead of just cutting calories not only prevents the starvation effect, but also helps regularly boost your metabolism. This truly is the most effective way to permanently lose body fat. An actual lifestyle change needs to be made in order to maintain those results long term.

Calorie Cycling
In order to boost your fat burning, you can cut some calories to speed the process. However, use the calorie cycling method to prevent your body from adapting. This involves cutting your calories for 2-3 days by maybe about 200 calories taken INTO your body. Follow this up with a day of eating your BMR, and maybe even an extra 100 calories. This prevents starvation mode, AND can also give your body a quick metabolism spike.

Resistance Training
Resistance training is the method used to build muscle. It also helps maintain your muscle during a fat burning phase. Even if you are performing a simple body weight resistance program a few days each week, this will help prevent loosing your muscles.

Summary
The most important thing to take away from this article is that losing fat is simple but not always easy. If you follow this formula, your will burn the fat guaranteed. A healthy lifestyle change is the only true way to get ripped and maintain those results long-term. It will take a lot of effort, but picture it as an investment. Put in a ton of work now, and then later your will not have to work as hard to maintain those awesome results. Good luck and go get your fat burn on!

any thing that you should know about garlic

Why we need a lot of garlic during detoxification

Garlic (Allium Sativum) is essential for the detoxification of heavy metals once they begin to be expelled from the organs and tissues. In the bloodstream garlic has been shown to protect blood from oxidative damage that is caused by the exposure of red and white cells to metal particles. Garlic’s sulphur compounds react with mercury, cadmium and lead particles. This makes them water-soluble and thus easier to excrete. Calcium binds to the toxic particles and prevents further harm to the body on the way out.

Garlic contains bio-available selenium that also protects us from mercury toxicity. Selenium is an important mineral that helps to support thyroid health and immunity. It makes sense to have garlic with food – so close to all those amalgam fillings you may still have. Secondary infections and other reactions like increased mucous, nausea or diarrhea are often common to a detoxification protocol. Fortunately garlic helps to fight off microbial infections with the potent sulfur-based compound called Alicia. Eating fresh garlic with food ensures that these substances are active. Eating too much garlic is said to be harmful but unlike laboratory rats, we only eat a little garlic with our food and 2 cloves a day is all it takes to do the job.

Disclaimer and health warning for people on medications

This information is for your interest and although it is based on many studies on the therapeutic use of garlic it should not be used without  advice from a qualified Doctor or Medical Practitioner. This is especially important if you are taking any form of medication. Please consult your physician or health care provider before taking any home remedies, supplements or starting a new health regime.Heavy metal detoxification needs medical supervision even if it is with something as innocent as a few cloves of garlic.

Garlic when taken at therapeutic doses of 2 - 4 cloves a day can duplicate the effects of patent drugs that are used to control high blood pressure, uncontrolled blood sugar and high LDL cholesterol. It may be necessary to work out a protocol with your therapist in order to balance out the beneficial effects that taking garlic has on these conditions. It is not wise to double up on a natural treatment and still take a full dose of drugs that have the same effect.

Parasites favour heavy metal. Garlic helps to gets rid of both problems

Parasites and microbes like bacteria, yeast, mold and fungi favor areas of the body that have higher levels of heavy metals, especially lead and mercury. This malevolent combination is also a major contributor to brain fog otherwise known as dementia or ADD.Fortunately a good rush of garlic will help to get rid of both problems over time, providing one is persistent and consistent. The treatment is best combined with a strict detoxification protocol that also includes the use of diatomaceous earth, probiotics and loads of fresh fruit, vegetable and herb juices.

Other benefits from eating a reasonable amount of garlic every day include controlling high blood pressure and lowering bad cholesterol. Garlic helps to prevent the oxidation of triglycerides, known as LDL or low density lipids that contribute to "bad" cholesterol.

How to benefit from garlic every day

After 14 days, chopped, dried or processed garlic products lose many of their valuable properties. To unleash its healing effects garlic is best when crushed and allowed to rest for about 15 minutes. The crushed or chopped garlic releases the active components. Add the garlic to olive oil, sea salt, herbs, spices and lemon juice and keep the leftovers in a small container for the rest of the day. Enjoy the mixture on vegetables and salads or with any cooked food.

The garlic huff comes mainly from the lungs and skin. Deal with it.

What we call garlicky breath is due to the sulphur compounds it contains. Some people expel more of it than others via the mouth, lungs and even the skin. Chlorophyll nullifies the characteristic odour of “people-processed” sulphur compounds. That is why chewing a few sprigs of parsley helps to get rid of the garlicky smell and taste in the mouth after a meal. Chlorophyll is present in all green leaves. Drinking green juices made from wheat grass, spinach and a variety of herbs will also help to reduce odour.

After eating garlic immediate relief from the dominant taste of garlic is provided by mint, brushing teeth, using a mouthwash or chewing gum. Garlic then infuses into the bloodstream and is exhaled by the lungs, even 72 hours later. During the detoxification process garlic plus the toxic compounds it rounds up along the way then ooze through skin pores. A good soak in a bath containing salt or Epsom salts takes care of that. It is good to scrub the skin with fresh rosemary and lavender sprigs, tied into a piece of cloth to improve circulation

Garlic releases a beneficial gas – hydrogen sulphide

Try this at home. Add a few crushed cloves of garlic to a jam jar of water. Keep it closed for a few days and then get a whiff of hydrogen sulphide. It gan be a dangerous gas in large quantities but the body needs it to stay healthy. Red blood cells begin to release hydrogen sulphide when they are exposed to garlic. Studies have shown that hydrogen sulphide can protect against various cancers; especially breast, prostate and colon cancer. It is an important gaseous neurotransmitter and has a similar action to nitric oxide in helping to relax blood vessels.

For treating erectile dysfunction some promising studies have shown that it can help to bring on the big one by allowing more blood to flow into the corpus callosum (the supportive tissue behind the penis) to improve rigidity. Then the increased blood flow raises the penile blood pressure and then - we know what happens. It is said that women also enjoy a rush of blood to their pleasure parts and this includes the labia, clitoris and corpus callosum.

Apart from boosting the raunchy bits, garlic-derived hydrogen sulphide helps protect cardiovascular health and regulate insulin at the same time. This would imply that in the first place, if garlic is used to regulate insulin then diabetics would be happier with their sex life and their doctors would be happier with their cardiovascular profile.

Garlic and coleus forskholiin can improve eyesight?

A study on the neurons associated with the retina using rats' eyes shows some promising improvement for eye problems that affect the retina. Although the study used other forms of donors for hydrogen sulphide,  garlic also releases enough hydrogen sulphide to support evidence that it is beneficial to eyes when present in the bloodstream. However, do not expose your eyes to crude forms of this gas in the environment because topically, it can cause eye damage or irritation. On contact, rinse out the eyes with milk or water and then get medical help.

The effect of this gas increases when combined with cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Here too, we have a natural source of this energy source that triggers the relaxation of smooth muscles: the herb coleus forskholii. So when you take a Coleus Forskholii supplement, have it with garlic and you can optimise on your levels of hydrogen sulphide. There are a lot of recent studies on the health benefits of hydrogen sulphide and most of them are as recent as the year 2000. We can look forward to some interesting information emerging from the research that has been done. It supports age-old beliefs that garlic is truly beneficial for human health and helps to explain how and why. Now you know - it's mainly because of allicin and hydrogen sulfide. What a gas!

Tips for the garlic chef

Raw garlic is the most potent. But it must be cut or crushed 1/2 hour beforehand.
Cook with it by all means, but it will lose some of the health benefits - but makes food so delicious.
Make yourself garlic "juice" by soaking cut or crushed garlic in a jar of water. After a few days this liquid can be sprinkled onto dishes, added to hot or cold soups or mixed into sauces for a quick, clean, zap of garlic.
Use half a cut lemon to get rid of the pong on  your fingers. Afterwards use the lemon to wipe down your cutting surfaces. Wooden chopping boards tend to harbor the pungent smell of garlic. I once made the mistake of using the same board to make a fruit salad. Never again! So now I chop garlic  on a plate and allow it to fume away for 1/2 hour.
Heavy metal detox: home protocol

I prefer to use a normal electric blender to make juice out of herbs, grasses and kitchen scraps. When combined with water and macerated, they release a lot more active plant components such as enzymes and alkaloids. The foam at the top of your whizzed up concoction is evidence of the presence of water soluble sapiens.

Metal detox juice recipe: (make 2 servings)

Add 1 cup of coriander leaves – plus the roots, 1 ½ cups of water with a chopped apple, ½ cup of parsley and ½ cup celery into an electric blender and process it all into a pulp. Optional extras: 1 teaspoon of vitamin C powder, a slice of fresh ginger or 4 fresh olive leaves. Strain it all through a strong stocking stretched over a large beaker or use piece of cloth placed on a sieve and squeeze out all the juice.

Before breakfast, make the juice and drink half of it.
After breakfast, take 10 chancellor tablets. (Blue green algae supplement.)
Later on have the rest of the juice. The coriander leaves begin to agitate out the heavy metal particles. Once this is done we need to trap them with pectin, so eat plenty of apples. The chancellor tablets help to trap, detoxify and protect one from the particles. Garlic protects the blood cells, as we now know.
During the day have light meals or snacks frequently and add freshly crushed garlic to your salads and other foods. Also eat Brazil nuts (more selenium), walnuts or almonds, apple slices and rice crackers with mashed avocado pear and garlic. Finish off by chewing a few sprigs of parsley, to keep the garlic fumes at bay.
Drink water with ½ lemon squeezed in it, as often as you can to stay alkaline. You can add a pinch of Himalayan salt.
At supper time lots of turnips, butternut, green vegetables, onions, rice and eggs, fish or turkey.
Bedtime: 1 – 2 teaspoons of calcium and magnesium supplement in ½ glass water. Alkaline minerals will now bind to metal and other toxic particles and are then excreted as solid or liquid waste the next morning.
You will feel different - as if the fog has blown away! You can do this protocol once a week and it will steadily help to ease your burden of heavy metal and make you feel lighter by the day. I find that a shot of this magic juice immediately makes me feel more energetic.

Best Effective Nail Whitening

Yellow nails are a turn off as well as bad hygiene but you don’t have to use nail polish to cover your yellow nail ends anymore. Now you can keep your nails unpolished and make them look white without needing to play the ‘French nail design’ on them anymore. It is very easy with the home remedies below to keep your nails white and shinny.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda Mixture

Method: First of all start by removing any nail polish off your fingers (if you have any); then wash your hands good with warm water and hand shampoo/soap for few minutes. In a small bowl add 1tbl of hydrogen peroxide and 1tbs of baking soda and mix it well until it becomes like kind of a paste. With the help of cotton apply the mixture all over your nails as well as underneath them. Leave the mixture on your nails for about 4 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Do this twice a week and soon enough you will start seeing great results.

Lemon juice and Baking soda Paste

Method: Remove any nail polish you might have left on your nails and then wash good your hands with harm water. In a bowl add 1 ½ tbs of lemon juice and same amount of banking soda. Mix well until it becomes like a paste. Apply this mixture all over your nails (as well as underneath them) and let it stay there for about five minutes and then wash it off. Do this twice a week and soon you will see how white and shinny your nails will be.

Ten Tips for having a Healthy Hair

It seems like you are always going for a hair trim and everyday is a bad hair day. You want to grow your hair out or make it look nice without spending hours manipulating your hair. You need a hair intervention. You need to stop abusing your hair and start taking good care of it. Here are some tips to do just that:

1. Do not use heat on your hair. Straightening, curling, and blow-drying will all cause damage to hair. The heat from styling tools not only sucks out moisture from hair, but also damages the protein structure of hair. Dry and brittle hair also is prone to breakage. People usually start using heat on their hair to fit in or for fun, but eventually use it to hide the damage they have done. It is a vicious cycle. Your hair is damaged from heat so you heat style it to hide the damage, which only damages it more. The best thing is to never use heat on your hair because even one heat session seriously damages hair. There are many no heat and gorgeous hairstyles such as your beautiful natural hair. But because this is unrealistic, you should decrease how often you use heat on your hair, use a good heat protectant when you heat style your hair, and moisturize hair after using heat.

2. Do not bleach your hair. Bleaching hair causes the hair to become irreversibly dry. You can moisturize hair as much as you want but the moisture is released so quickly. Breakage is inevitable. If you already have bleached hair, cut as much of it as you can off because there is no going back. This is harsh but true. Dyeing hair without bleach also damages it but not to the extent that bleach does. This is a good option for those who really want to change the color of their hair.

3. Brush hair gently. Or better yet, use fingers or a wide tooth comb. I like to brush hair super carefully and finger comb when I come across a large knot. Brushing hair harshly really does break hair.  Combing and finger combing won't cause as much breakage but the most important factor is gentleness. It is a good idea to start brushing hair from the bottom up but in downward strokes as carefully as you can. Do not yank hair when faced with a knot; carefully detangle. As a child I had the frizziest of hair. My friends would all try to help me by using different defrizzing products but nothing worked. The only thing that did was brushing my hair gently! My broken hair grew and few new ones took their place.

4. Use sulfate-free shampoo and silicone-free conditioner. Shampoos with sulfates strip hair of natural oils. This causes the scalp to be dry and produce a lot of oil. Before the oil is produced, hair is prone to breakage. The sulfate-free shampoos clean hair and remove some oil, but not all of it. Silicones in conditioner coat hair so that hair seems moisturized but isn't and don't allow moisture into hair. For some people, however, silicones in conditioner make hair more manageable and protect it from drying out. So you can test out which type of conditioner is better for you.

5. Wash your hair less. Whenever you wash your hair, you remove the natural oil that is great for hair. So the more you wash hair, the more oil your scalp produces to moisturize hair. Your scalp knows that you wash your hair everyday so it must keep producing oil with the hope that some of it remains after your wash! If you begin to lengthen the amount of time between washes, your scalp will produce less oil and your hair will be less greasy. Just be strong through the transition period and your hair will be much happier.

6. Be careful when hair is wet. When hair is wet it stretches easily and therefore breaks easily. You should NEVER and I repeat NEVER brush or comb hair when wet because it will definitely break A LOT. Also, do not go to sleep with wet hair because you will move around in your sleep and your hair will break. It is better to blow dry hair on cool then to go to bed with wet hair.

7. Use deep treatments. It is imperative that hair is moisturized for it to be healthy and deep treatments are the way to do it. Simply spray detangled hair with water until is damp and then apply your treatment. I like to use coconut oil because it penetrates the hair shaft but there are many other oils and masks you could use on your hair.  Oils can be kept in for as long as you want (I go for about 8 hours.), but read directions if using products. Use deep treatments as little as twice a month or as often as eight times a month, depending on the amount of time you have and how dry your hair is.

8. Use SPF in your hair. The sunrays and sun heat damage your hair. I thought this was a myth until I realized I was in need of a trim and the ends of my hair were many shades lighter than the roots of my hair.  Learn from my mistake. Use heat protectant with SPF in it if you will be in the sun for long periods of time.

9. Sleep with hair in a braid. When you sleep, you move around. This causes hair to get tangled and even break. You will have to brush or comb your hair, which always has the chance of breakage. To avoid this, sleep with your hair in a loose braid, or even a loose bun. Your hair won't move as much so it won't not tangle or break as much.

10. Sleep on silk pillowcases. You could also wrap hair in a silk scarf or wear a silk cap. Silk is much gentler on hair than cotton and other fabrics and won't cause hair to break as much. Also, the silk won't take moisture out of your hair.

You may have noticed that having healthy hair involves avoiding damage and not just avoiding causing damage. So leaving your hair alone will actually still damage it. You must take care of it. But remember to enjoy your hair, no matter what.

Differences Between the Flu and Colds

Being sick is not fun at all.  You have to learn to take care of yourself. Remember that health is wealth that is why you should learn to take good care of your body. However, regardless of your effort to maintain your healthy body, there would always be time that you will get sick. The most common sickness you can experience is flu and cold. The flu and colds are likely to happen during cold season but, they can hit you anytime, anywhere and it is hard to identify the main difference between the two. A lot of people today do not really know the main difference between flu and cold and it is quite confusing and challenging to evaluate the two since they are quite similar to each other.

What are Colds and Flues?

Flu and colds are both viral infections that can attack your respiratory system. However, the influenza virus is the main cause of flu whereas rhino-virus is the one that causes a cold. Flu happens in unexpected situation and can come upon you quickly, while cold typically develops slowly. In general, flu may appear like a cold at the start which is a milder illness as compared to flu. And while the symptoms of a cold can make you feel quite bad and lousy for a few hours or even a couple of days, the symptoms of flu can make you feel really bad for many days to weeks. The after effects of the flu can affect your for even weeks.

To help you more in identifying if you have flu or cold, you should fully understand their main differences in terms of their main causes, signs, and symptoms.  You have to know which one you have in order to know what treatment is correct.
You should know that he common cold is an inflammation in the mucous membrane which is usually caused by 200 different types of viruses. If you are about to have a cold, you will start having a sore throat which usually happens on first day. After that, you will experience nasal problems, a runny nose, coughing, and congestion. During the first two days that you have symptoms of cold, it's better for you to stay home and get enough rest since you are already contagious. Cold viruses can spread easily through nose-blowing, nose-wiping, and sneezing. So basically, you can be affected by a cold if you are able to come in contact and inhale viruses from someone who is infected with a cold.
Some of the common symptoms of cold are nasal stuffiness, headaches, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, nose and throat irritation, and muscles aches and pains. They can cause you to feel terrible but mostly these things are just uncomfortable and drain you physically.
If you experience these symptoms, you definitely have a cold and it will typically last for no more than a week. However, if your cold symptoms do not go away after a week and you still feel very weak, it would be advisable that you check with your doctor right away because you probably have developed sinusitis or other allergies.
On the other hand, flu, which is also known as influenza can cause a much serious effect on you as its symptoms are more severe as compared to a cold. It is a highly contagious disease that can infect you through touching contaminated areas such as tables, chairs door handles, utensils, door handles and the likes.  You can also catch the influenza virus by merely being around someone who has flu and keeps on coughing and sneezing.  The influenza virus is considered as an airborne virus and therefore, flu is contagious just by being in the presence of someone having the disease.
One common complication of the flu virus is pneumonia, which can be very risky for both young and adults especially those with heart and lung problems. Flu viruses usually start by entering your body through your eyes, nose, and mouth's mucous membrane. Again this is an airborne disease and since we rely on our breathing and touching things, we are more susceptible to the contagious virus.
Among the common symptoms of flu includes high fever, headache, sore throat, hoarse cough, and aching arm, legs, and back. If you experience the following symptoms of flu, you will feel very weak due to fever for the first 2 to 4 days and coughing and tiredness can last for more than a week.
Once you experience any of the signs and symptoms of flu and cold, it's very important that you take the right medicines to control them from spreading. And since both flu and cold have similar symptoms and it seems so hard to tell their differences based on signs and symptoms alone, it is best advisable that you visit your doctor as soon as possible so you'll know exactly if you have a flu or cold as well as you will be provided with the appropriate medications to take, and be further examined for other illnesses.

How to Treat the Flu and the Cold

The Center for Disease Control says you should get plenty of rest.  This will mean you should take off a couple of day from work or school.  You should not go around others for at least 24 hours after you stop having fever.  Fever is a sign you are contagious and your body is heating up to fight off the virus.
Get the rest you need. Your body needs to use all its energy to fight off this virus.  Stress can cause the virus to move and reproduce faster.  If you are resting, those resources can be used to fight off the virus.
If you have a cold or flu do not eat or drink after anyone.  Do not let anyone eat or drink after you either.  You need to disobey your parents on this one and do not learn to share, at least do not share this virus.
You should drink plenty of liquids.  This will help directly by fighting off the virus.  However, indirectly it will help you to keep from getting dehydrated, which is a common occurrence with having a cold.
To help relieve some of the congestion, you can take a hot shower or bath.  This will help you relax as well.  The steam will help relieve some of the congestion as well.  To also help with the congestion, you can get a humidifier and place it in the room you are staying in most of the time.
To help with the sore throat you can gargle with warm salt water.  You will most likely have muscle pain associated with the cold.  You can take aspirin or acetaminophen, or ibuprofen.  You can take over the counter medications with antihistamines in them to help combat the runny nose and irritated eyes.  Take cough suppressants to help with the coughing that you are having.  However, you do want to get that stuff broke up and coughing does help with theat.  If you are coughing and it is breaking the mucous up, you might want to go as long as you can.
You should always see a doctor if you condition gets worse or last for more than a week.  I am not a medical doctor and this article should not replace the great information you would get from a physician that knows you and your situation.

How The Mind Plays Games With the Body

The placebo effect is not the end of the story
The mind creates the concept of being either sick or well that is then physically manifested. We make a conscious decision about the input but some say this process can bypass the conscious mind. A chameleon does not decide what colour it is going to manifest. It is an automatic process and depends on the camouflage it needs. From there the somatic computer takes over and this is incapable of discrimination. Give it the instruction either way and all the systems will rally to produce the results. Tell yourself you are taking a drug (mind suggestion) and the body responds to the suggested effects (manifestation). We call this the placebo effect. But for the chameleon, there is another sub-routine that applies to us as well. When threatened, it turns dark, almost black regardless of the item it clings to. The brain is full of surprises.
An inactive substance or a specially formulated drug can produce the same physical effects as a drug. This depends on how well suggestions are presented on the label of the bottle or the literature that is used to create a mental platform. If no information is provided the effects of the placebo are absent. But side effects of blank placebos have been manifested when the patient is alerted to possible complications.
All this is mind mischief but the effects can be profound. Auto suggestion plays a significant role in medicine. So does a belief system. In 1986 the Kirsch studies involving a number of comparisons made between effects of antidepressant drugs and placebos showed that there was only a minimal difference of about 10%. This was even the case when two popular and very expensive antidepressant drugs plus an herbal alternative were compared to a placebo. St John's Wort (Hypericum), Prozac, Zoloft and the placebo only showed a minimal difference in efficacy. It seems that the depressed person takes the pill (a herb, a placebo or a drug) and regardless of the chemistry involved, the mind did the rest.
But that is not the end of the story because all drugs regardless of their origin can cause side effects even if nobody is not told about them. The funny thing is that when people alert the mind to possible problems they can also result in real complications - even with a placebo! With research about the benefits of certain herbs to help alleviate brain and nerve related disorders one has to be conservative.
On the one hand you need to tell the user of the beneficial effects of a substance but you do not want to put ideas into their heads. It is best to rely on observation and feedback. If it works, they will tell you and give you the details without any preconceived ideas. If something unpleasant happens you will know even sooner!this method is similar to the drug proving first used by Samuel Hahnemann in homeopathy.
Experience and observation work beyond the effects of a placebo
Homeopathic remedies are based on a system of observing the effects of a substance without any prior knowledge. The process is called drug proving. The observations of people who undergo a drug proving are studied to produce a symptom picture. For example, if onions make your eyes water then the onion can be used in a homeopathically potentised remedy to correct a problem with excessive tearing of the eyes. A bee sting produces itchiness, burning, swelling or a rash. This is a symptom picture of the effects of histamine, so a remedy is made from the bee venom to use as an alternative to an antihistamine drug and so on.
I have often unwittingly made similar observations and once discovered that after drinking a blend of herb tea my joints began to ache. Muscles felt painful, almost bruised. I felt stabbing pains in my neck and jaw. I checked the ingredients and sure enough, one of them was St John's Wort. I had not known this beforehand. In homeopathy we use a remedy made from this herb for similar aches and pains at a low potency of D 6. It does not contain the active substance, only an energy blueprint of it that works in reverse to the herb itself.  At a more diluted level it is used to ease a piercing, stabbing pain such as toothache or a crushed finger.
This may sound a bit mind-boggling but bear with me. St John's Wort in the herbal (gross) form alleviates depression they say. Side effects include stabbing pains and photosensitivity. In a potentised form it should do the reverse so does taking St John's Wort as a homeopathic remedy cause depression, yet treat aches and pains and photosensitivity?
St John's Wort (Hypericum) is said to work as a selective serotonin uptake inhibitor in its natural, unpotentised state. There is no mention of the side effects (drug proving) that include shooting pains and aching joints. But photosensitivity is often mentioned. Talk about a "selective information uptake overload"! It is hard to tell if the information is relayed by the mind or by simple feedback from areas of the body that experience the effects. The good news is that many people love St John's Wort because when they take it they don't feel depressed. There are no really harmful side effects as compared to patent drugs and it is a lot cheaper. Even the difference in cost will help to alleviate "financial depression".
The nocebo effect and how it sabotages health and wellbeing
A nocebo effect is the opposite of a placebo effect. They both use the same belief system in opposite ways. According to some studies the conscious mind does not even have to be involved but that is debatable. When the media explodes with a story about harmful effects of anything from wi-fi exposure to a virulent bug going round people will get ill and faithfully prove the harmful effects even if the information was a scam. Studies also show that people feel better protected by a vaccine against the flu that is more expensive and more difficult to get.
Some people will be given a remedy by a friend for their ailment. It may be exactly what they need to get better but they object to it coming from a friend, costing next to nothing and not being a formal drug that is prescribed by their doctor. The result is obvious. They will not get better and they will soon complain of headaches, cramps or whatever they can imagine in order to make their point. We were told as children to: "put on your jersey or you will get a cold!" Yet another example of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The big ugly lie about parabens - people believe it!
Most people are terrified of parabens in cosmetics. "Well informed" people complain about the use of methylparaben and propylparaben that are used to control microbial infections in herbal products. People prefer to use a product that does not contain any preservatives. This means that the product may be contaminated and unfit for use but it makes them happy. Big names in the cosmetic industry claim that these parabens are artificial harmful chemicals. They warn people that if the product cannot be put in the mouth they must not use it on the skin. They say that parabens are hormone disruptors and they cause cancer.
All of this is not true. Not one of these claims can stand up to well researched evidence to the contrary but as said before, the bigger the lie is, the more people will believe it. How about you? the truth is that mangoes and granadillas are full of these parabens! Parabens do not have a molecular structure that even resembles a steroid hormone with 4 carbon linked molecule. 90% of the parabens we find in the body are from food sources including green tea, vanilla and strawberries.
The joke is that we buy "organic" paraben-free cosmetics with these ingredients and feel good about spending the extra money. You may ask if the product contains the real green tea that contains parabens or have they conjured up fake paraben-free green tea and other immaculate "organic" conceptions! Then we foul-mouth people who use parabens as they occur in nature and make products that last for decades because they are not infected. But worrying about a product that contains parabens is probably what produces the nocebo effect.
They say it’s all in the mind but without a healthy clean brain it is impossible to think your way out of a perpetual fog.
Your mind can be influenced by information that is either true or false. It is the mind that offers the suggestion to the body to become ill or to be healthy. But if the mind is foggy in the first place then a dodgy blueprint will be channelled to the body to manifest. A confused mindset will send out conflicting instructions. People also make suggestions, claims and offer amazing cures and special diets. You are free to accept them or reject them. But they say that the bigger the lie is, the more people will believe it. We may add that if the lie has been told by an important doctor or professor then more people will fall for it and ont even question its validity.
Rather seek the truth and work things out for yourself. Eating like Professor Tim Noakes is a fine example of how carbo-loading can cause brain fog. He is also ignorant about all the other side effects of such an unhealthy protocol. Time and bitter experience caught up with him and all his followers were left to work out how to tell the mind the exact reverse of what he claimed. Dr Atkins shows how a meat and fat obsession to the detriment of carbohydrates can backfire and also result in ill-health.
Collective unconsciousness and universal beliefs can create diseases
In some countries menopause is a health problem and needs hormones and drugs to correct it. In primitive and remote areas women view it as temporary phase that leads to empowerment and a new lease of life. In Japan and China people consume vast quantities of MSG (monosodium glutamate) and do not have damaged neurons as a result of it. We are told by important doctors that is is a synthetic toxin. People panic and insist that all products should be free of MSG.
This became a joke because the body makes its own glutamate and it is an important neurotransmitter. The nerve damage that occurs is avoidable. It is due to excessive cortisol that interferes with its uptake in the brain. When garlic is eaten with MSG or at other meals it helps to protect neurons from oxidative damage. This neurotransmitter is certainly not a man-made toxin but people believe it is and then they get sick when they eat it. The highest levels of monosodium glutamate occur in soy sauce, tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Now labels have to declare: "No added MSG." What do you believe?
Mind over grey matter
The mind is not one of our physical components. It requires solid human hardware to interact with. The brain and nervous system depend on the mind and the thoughts and suggestions that it generates. Both need to be kept healthy and free of toxic, destructive elements: “A sound mind in a healthy body.” The brain and nervous system are vulnerable to environmental toxins, especially herbicides that can destroy nerve endings that are responsible for the uptake of dopamine. Even food, especially an inappropriate overload of carbohydrates can have a chaotic effect on our hormones and neurotransmitters. (Tim Noakes has finally discovered this!)
It is important to deal with matters of the mind at all levels. Stress makes one ill because of the way cortisone and other neurotransmitters that deal with emergency situations shift from a temporary surge to extended phases that can damage nerve endings and disrupt our internal network. Simple stress reducing techniques are very effective because they work at a more conscious level. A mind that is reassured and relaxed can influence the way our body chemistry behaves. This is what really changes the way hormones and neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, serotonin and dopamine behave.
How serotonin takes care of our wellbeing
But what if the neurotransmitter does not have enough time to engage on the designated receptor site? Let us look at a popular scenario. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that helps to control some rather unpleasant effects: anxiety, depression, rage, obsessive compulsive disorder and often an attempt at suicide. Yes, life is not worth living if serotonin is not engaging on a receptor and delivering those feel good, happy messages! Over time your sensitivity to pain increases and you can suffer from a lack of sleep and have constant cravings for sweet things. Although you may have enough serotonin floating around it may be that the receptors are not fully engaging with it.
Serotonin is made out of an amino acid called 5-hydroxy-tryptophan (5-HTP). The brain also needs it to produce melatonin, a hormone that controls our sleeping cycles. It also helps us to prevent some types of cancer. Good nutrition is required to make sure there is a steady stream of amino acids for the production of important hormones and especially our neurotransmitters. But if something interferes with the uptake of these messengers we still do not get any relief. Drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSR’s) are used to correct this problem. But they do nothing to address the real cause of the broken connection that may be damaged nerve endings.
Most of the drugs cause further complications that include tremors, sexual dysfunction and suicidal tendencies. This can lead to dependence on other medications to correct these side effects. Antipsychotic drugs are often prescribed but they can cause insulin resistance and long-term neurological damage. This gets us back to the original problem – if the nerve endings are damaged it is impossible to benefit from serotonin. Are there herbal alternatives? St John’s Wort (Hypericum) is a popular herbal remedy to use to improve the uptake of serotonin. It can increase photosensitivity in some people but it is a safer option.
A natural way to help neurotransmitters and hormones deliver their messages
There is another way to improve the performance of hormones and neurotransmitters on receptor sites and it offers a very elegant and non-habit forming solution. A second messenger is the nickname for a naturally occurring delivery system based on cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). We know that adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a three-part energy bundle used to fuel up the cell’s power station called the mitochondria. It splits into three units of cAMP to activate the designated receptor sites of some of our major hormones. cAMP is one of the keys to controlling communication between the brain and its hormonal messengers.
Barry Sears the author of The Anti-Ageing Zone came up with an excellent protocol to increase and activate cAMP. It involves a strict low carbohydrate diet that keeps levels of insulin and cortisol under control. Large amounts of Omega 3 supplements complete the equation and cAMP becomes readily available. Forskholin is a phytochemical that activates adenylate cyclase - the enzyme that breaks down the ATP bundle to release the cAMP. Forskolin comes from the roots of Coleus Forskohlii. The action of the cAMP is prolonged in the presence of caffeine, justifying the addition of Chinese green tea to impart a longer life to your second messenger!

Forskolin from the herb Coleus Forskholii helps to treat: hypertension, mild congestive heart failure, asthma, eczema and psoriasis, digestive weakness, irritable bowel problems and weight gain. It is good for persistent urinary infections. Coleus also has anti-inflammatory properties and anti-histamine effects. Coleus helps to improve the effects of hormones like oestrogen and testosterone. It enhances thyroid activity and this speeds up a sluggish metabolism and helps to burn fat. It helps to alleviate insulin and leptin resistance. This in turn improves appetite control and reduce sugar cravings.
Our mind affects hormones and neurotransmitters
Neurotransmitters need to actively engage on their target receptors and stay there, until the message is delivered. It is important to maintain our levels of raw materials such as amino acids and to restore damaged nerves. Herbs can work miracles in this arena and are part of the tool kit we need to repair and maintain our central nervous system upon which the mind depends to express itself and carry out our scenarios. But it is the mind that is responsible for giving out the commands in the first place and it is up to us to base our beliefs on what is beneficial and not harmful.
If we believe a condition is incurable then we will have to live with it. How often are we told this, even by doctors? This is what the mind then tells the body and the hormones and neurotransmitters will orchestrate and even dramatize the effects of the so-called condition. They are merely carrying out what you believe even if it is not true.
This happens when patients are given a wrong diagnosis in a hospital. For example, a man who was awaiting the condemnation of a diagnosis of incurable cancer received an all-clear prognosis by mistake. He was jubilant and went home and never was affected by the worrying symptoms again. They went away. But his actual report was given to a healthy person by mistake who went into shock mode and died of cancer some time later. The hormones and neurotransmitters don’t control us; they react to the way we feel and think. A perceived danger is real to them and stress reactions take over even if there isn’t a real tiger in the room.

Always be mindful of health and happiness and it will manifest
All of us can take positive steps in order to feel better and not dwell on what is wrong. (It may not be but you can imagine the problem.) In other words, suggest to the body that there is a problem and that is what you will get. Resisting the problem will make it worse because what you resist will persist. Denial will not work either as it is based on resisting the problem.
No medical diagnosis, treatment or drug is needed to encompass a little effort and discipline in our lives. When you take positive steps to make a few changes and feel good about the things you encompass to help a condition you have already given yourself a positive dose of mind medicine. Feeling good and relaxed and delighting in the effects of what you plan to do is good for the body, the mind and the soul.
We are quite capable of manifesting a healthy happy body regardless of what it looks like in the mirror. The body is the mirror of the mind and that is where the biggest changes can be made. The mind is the mirror of your soul and your soul is connected to God-consciousness. So what do you see in your mirror?
